Guy Martin AKONO is a Legal and Compliance, Certified Expert in Financial Inclusion Policies, with over 10 years’ experience in the legal and compliance field, in the banking and FINTECH sectors.
He currently works for a multinational bank as a Legal Officer.
Prior to that, he held the positions of Senior Compliance Lead in a FINTECH, Legal Officer, and Head of Control and Compliance Risk Management in a local bank.

Aurélie GUIFO has been Head of Compliance at a leading bank in Cameroon since 2017. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Law and has more than 15 years’ experience in the banking sector. Financial security is at the heart of her concerns, accounting for 75% of her daily responsibilities. She designed and managed the anti-money laundering system of a multinational bank from the beginning of its operations in the country.
In a complex geopolitical context and with ever-changing regulations, particularly regarding customer identification, automated transaction monitoring and the detection of atypical and suspicious transactions, Aurélie has successfully met the challenges of strengthening her institution’s regulatory framework. Given Cameroon’s position on the FATF’s grey list, her main challenge is to be creative and responsive in strengthening internal controls, raising awareness and training sales teams on the challenges of combating money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT), while instilling a genuine culture of compliance within the organisation. Her willingness to constantly challenge herself enables her to keep pace with market best practices, both internationally and in Africa
